Steven Blackman, PhD. is a highly accomplished consultant with decades of experience in the professional services industry, including both high-profile management and search consultancy firms.  Currently, he leads his own executive assessment consultancy and coaching firm, Steven Blackman Leadership Consulting (SBLC).  Having conducted over 2,000 leadership evaluations in his career, he is a true assessment expert working across the globe in areas such as finalist/selection, succession, promotion, and high-potential identification. Additionally, as an executive coach with multiple credentials, Dr. Blackman and his colleagues accelerate professional development through intuitive insights and quantifiable assessment data.

 

Prior to launching SBLC, Dr. Blackman was a consultant for over a dozen years at Spencer Stuart International (SSI).  At SSI, he collaborated with Fortune 200 companies regarding critical personnel decisions involving C-level and CEO executive assessment, development, promotion, and succession. During that time, he worked across 32 SSI offices, 5 continents, and in 2 languages (Native English/ Fluent Spanish).

 

Earlier in his career, Dr. Blackman held senior-level organizational change and development consultant roles at Oliver Wyman (Delta Organization & Leadership), Price-Waterhouse Coopers, and Hughes Aircraft Company.

 

Internationally, Dr. Blackman has done a great deal of work “just north” of him in Canada.  That said, he also has amassed global experience beyond North America including Europe, South/Central America, the Middle East, and Australia.  As a proud New York City resident, when not traveling, he enjoys everything related to the “Big Apple” including theatre and “culinary experimentation” with newly-opened restaurants.  Also, in his “free-time”, he is an avid movie buff such that he writes cinematic reviews for a well-known online app.  Finally, he is a devoted volunteer with Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of NYC.

 

Dr. Blackman holds a B.A. in Psychology from California State University.  He also holds a M.A. and Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology.  In addition, he is a highly credentialed executive coach (e.g. ACPEC, BCC, etc.) and is certified in numerous executive leadership assessment instruments and tools.
